Palmetto Log Fort Exhibit

Step Inside a Revolutionary-Era Palmetto Log Fort on Sullivan’s Island

June 20 - September 2027
J. Marshall Stith Park
Palmetto Log Fort Exhibit

Visit Sullivan’s Island for a special Palmetto Log Fort exhibit representing one of the most important Revolutionary War structures in South Carolina.  Based on the original Palmetto log fortification constructed prior to the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June 28, 1776, the exhibit highlights the unique design and material that aided in thwarting the British navy and defending Charleston, thereby inspiring South Carolina's iconic Palmetto and crescent symbols.

This activation will be part of the Revolutionary City experience and offer visitors a meaningful way to connect with the origins of Carolina Day and Charleston’s Revolutionary past.

Open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily.  Site atop "The Mound" adjacent to J. Marshall Stith Park, 2058 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island SC 29482.  Parking available at Battery Thomson off of I'on Avenue, along Middle Street, and to the rear of Sullivan's Island Town Hall after normal business hours.
